5 Ways to Inspire Others and Change Lives
Has anyone ever inspired you to transform your life in a way that made you happier, more fulfilled, or more successful? If so, there’s a good chance you understand the value that a great leader can bring to the world. Inspiration is a powerful thing, but it’s not something that’s easy to achieve. Whether you’re the leader at the head of a business, or someone running a non-profit organisation, learning how to tap into inspiration could be the key to success for your future.
Here are just a few ways that people can genuinely inspire their teams, coworkers, friends, and family, and change lives for good.
1. Truly Care About Something:
Most successful non-profit organisations inspire change because they demonstrate the enthusiasm and passion they have for a cause to the world around them. Caring is contagious. When someone genuinely shows how much they value something, it convinces other people to consider that idea with greater weight. Think about how you show your enthusiasm for your cause in everything you do. Remember, when you put positive energy into the world, you get positive energy in return.
2. Build Trust:
People struggle to be inspired by individuals they don’t feel they can trust. With that in mind, whether you want to motivate someone to buy your product, convince an individual to invest in your non-profit company, or simply help someone to overcome a challenge in their life, you need to let them know you can trust them first. The most important thing to keep in mind with trust is that it takes a lifetime to build, and only seconds to destroy. Be careful engaging in any activity that might harm the trust you’ve worked so hard to develop.
3. Stand Your Ground:
How can you expect anyone else to believe in you if you don’t believe in yourself? It’s easy to let little things shake your confidence as you move closer towards your goal, but if you want to truly inspire the people around you, then you need to learn how to stand your ground when the going gets tough. Show the people you want to motivate that even in the worst circumstances, you can overcome anything with the right attitude.
4. Be Human:
People are inspired by individuals that they can relate to and resonate with. To that end, it doesn’t help for a leader to be some omnipresent entity that can do no wrong. While it’s important to reach for the stars with your goals, and push yourself to constantly accomplish new things, you also have to embrace your human side. When something goes wrong for you, admit it. Own up to your flaws and show people that mistakes don’t have to mean the end of a great idea.
5. Keep Your Promises:
One of the biggest mistakes that leaders make when they’re trying to inspire others, is that they fail to keep their promises. It’s tempting to tell people that you’ll give them the world when you want to motivate them into action, but the more you fall through on the claims you make, the less trustworthy you become.
