Tips for creating a company podcast

People want to consume information quickly these days. And written information may not go down well with everyone. Podcasts are becoming extremely popular and it is something that every company needs to do. A podcast is more personal and people who do not read blogs willingly listen to podcasts. Every business can start a podcast that can provide something of value to its listeners. Given below are tips on how to build a successful podcast.

Draw on current issues

Current issues can also mean current challenges that the company is going through at the moment. Those issues also have to be relevant for the audience. Hot topics of conversation within the organization can also be a part of the content. For instance, in the podcast Business Wars, the host tells listeners about competition in the business world. The crux is business is war, and how the result of these battles have a role to play on consumer habits. Interviews with industry insiders also help listeners to get a better idea about businesses.

Decide on the length and frequency of episodes

The first episode should be brief as it is important to take into account how far the listeners can make through an episode. While deciding on the length of the episodes, it is a good idea to think of the listener personas. Where do the listeners listen to the podcast? Are they multitasking then? If the episodes are too short, the listener might not enjoy handling their device to have access to another episode. A very long episode might leave the listeners annoyed. It is not as important to release a lot of episodes as it is to maintain consistency. Even a bi-weekly podcast can be very successful, if its content is consistent. Recording episodes well in advance is always better so that the episodes do not seem rushed.

Decide on the content

For a company podcast, its theme should follow its inbound marketing program. For instance, if the business is a financial institution, it can teach how to manage money. Sakara is an organic meal delivery and lifestyle brand. Its podcast, The Sakara Life Podcast, discusses ancient rituals as well as modern science for a healthier and happier life. The podcast features medical practitioners and healers and the content is fun and informative.

Engage the entire business

A company might have a team which works on its podcast, but it is a good idea to engage everyone in the company. Employees can rate and review the show and share it with their networks. Employees can also be incentivized for their participation. With an increasing number of people working from home, many businesses have started internal podcasts. In internal podcasts, employees hear about company updates and success stories. The content of internal podcasts can be tweaked in such a way that listeners from outside feel connected to the company. Working together for a podcast also leads to a sense of community. It is also important that employees have a firm grasp on the purpose of the podcast and the audience.
