Reaching Consumers on TikTok

The latest social media platform that’s trending with audiences all over the world is TikTok, which has also quickly become a very exciting and viable platform where companies can market themselves. However, before a company decides to join in and start using it to create and distribute content, it’s important for companies to know how they can reach their audiences strategically on the platform.

Audience research

The first step in deciding whether a company should be using a new social media platform to reach its target audience is conducting audience research to learn where the target audience hangs out in the digital space. For a number of companies these days, that is going to include TikTok, but it’s not going to be the same for every business. For example, if a company caters to generally older generations of consumers, given the platform’s younger audience, the company won’t be generating a lot of attention. A lot of companies tend to join in on the latest trends, whether they are going to be regarding using new tools or platforms, or simply social media, challenges, and even conversations. However, before a company makes any sort of decision in that regard, it’s important to first figure out whether it’s going to make sense for the target audience that the company joins in on any given thing, and whether it’s going to make sense for the brand itself, and the way it presents itself to the public.

Purpose

Starting to use a brand new social media platform, especially one like TikTok can be quite overwhelming for a lot of people and businesses, especially if a business doesn’t have a specific goal that it wants to achieve while using that platform. The goal should be one of the first things that the company defines when deciding to make any business decision, including using a brand new social media platform. That’s because the goal is going to influence the types of content that the company creates for the platform, its overall strategy while using the platform, and even the topics that are going to be covered in the content. While it’s possible for the goal the company sets to change over time, it’s important for companies to have a general idea of what they want to do on the platform and the reason why they want to do that. Some of the most common goals that companies have when deciding to use TikTok as a way to reach their audiences include promoting their solutions, generating more brand awareness, expanding and educating the target audience, developing an engaged community around the brand, generating more website traffic, or simply to provide better customer service. Once a company has defined its goal, it’s important for the business to track its performance and the progress toward achieving that goal through key performance indicators (KPIs) such as general content engagement, follower growth, and more. ?
